BSA Advocates for Consensus on Strong Federal Privacy Legislation
WASHINGTON – June 27, 2019 – After yesterday’s update on federal privacy legislation, BSA | The Software Alliance responded with the following statement:
“Every American deserves a strong, comprehensive federal privacy law to prevent bad actors from abusing their personal data,” said Craig Albright, Vice President of Legislative Strategy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “Other countries and individual states are all moving forward with new privacy rules. Leadership is urgently needed at the federal level to establish a strong, high quality standard so every consumer in the US can be protected.
“We commend the Senators in the working group and many other Members of the House and Senate who are actively working to develop and pass a bill into law. This work is important, and we hope it will produce results quickly. We urge the committees to come together with bipartisan legislation as soon as possible to address this urgent need.”
